To Tishomingo water customers and business
I have received a recommendation from the city manager of Tishomingo advising the City of Tishomingo move to Water Conservation Stage 5 Restrictions.
These are two factors that prompt this recommendations:
- A. According to the USGS gage on Pennington Creek near Reagan OK (number 07331300) the discharge of Pennington Creek reached the 5cfs on September 11th, 2022. It dropped below 5cfs on September 13th, 2022. It has risen back to 5csf as September 14th, 2022. However, the trend continues to drop. According to the national weather service there is not a chance of substantial rain in the next two weeks.
- B. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor Johnston County remains in D3 (Extreme Drought).
For these reasons, I am implementing Water Conservation Stage 5 Restrictions.
According to our ordinances:
Stage 5(B) Conservative Measures. Upon Issuance of a proclamation implementing Stage 5 measures, there shall be no outdoor watering of any kind. Additionally, commercial/non-residential users may be contacted to decrease consumption.
The city is doing everything in its power to conserve water while working on all measures to identify a supplemental water source. If you have questions, please contact me at any time.
Thank You,
Laura Wood
Mayor of Tishomingo
